Her parents are doctors, and her grandfather was a renowned painter and professor at the University of Fine Arts in Hue. As a descendant of Empress Tu Du's lineage, Anh Thư carries a legacy of elegance and cultural sophistication that profoundly influences her designs. Before transitioning into fashion design, Phạm Đăng Anh Thư originally aspired to become an interior designer, driven by her passion for mathematics, spatial geometry, and architecture. This unique foundation is reflected in the creations of JoliPoli, where her designs are meticulously structured with scientific precision and crafted to achieve the perfect form, adhering to the golden ratio. Her expertise seamlessly blends architectural influences with fashion, resulting in pieces that are both sophisticated and timeless. In 2006, Anh Thư won the HotVTeen Award, a prestigious accolade celebrating inspirational youth. This recognition, combined with her personal experience of searching for bespoke evening gowns tailored to precise measurements and showcasing unique designs, sparked her ambition to create a premium fashion brand.
